The Sundae Best Ponies were introduced in Year 6 between 1987 and 1988, and were the first scented My Little Ponies. (Four more sets of scented ponies would be released in later years: Sweetberry, Candy Cane, Perfume Puff, and Soda Sippin' ponies.) Each Sundae Best Pony is lightly scented according to the theme of her symbol. All of the Sundae Best Ponies have raised symbols, and presumably for this reason, they were all printed in new poses -- all based on previously existing poses, but with slight alterations. (The same is true of the Year 6 Princess Ponies.) Each Sundae Best pony came with a hair clip, a lollipop brush or candy comb, and a ribbon.
Peppermint Crunch is an aqua adult pegasus pony with lavender hair and light pink eyes. Her symbol is a three-dimensional pink and white ice cream cone with three splashes of ice cream around it. She has a light minty scent. Her pose is a slightly-altered variation of the Firefly Pose. Peppermint Crunch came with a blue lollipop brush, a ribbon, and a yellow hair clip shaped like an ice cream sundae.
Banana Surprise is a pink adult earth pony with aqua hair and purple eyes. Her symbol is a three-dimensional banana split with a cherry on top in a white dish with three hearts on it, and three splashes of white ice cream around it. She has a faint banana-strawberry scent. Her pose is a slightly-altered variation of the Bow-Tie Pose (also used for Princess Taffeta). Banana Surprise came with a pinkish-lavender candy comb, a ribbon, and a purple hair clip shaped like an ice cream.
Sherbet is a purple adult earth pony with dark pink hair and pink eyes. Her symbol is a three-dimensional dish of pink ice cream with whipped cream and a cherry on top and four splashes of white ice cream around it. She is lightly (cherry?) scented. Her pose is a slightly-altered variation of the Posey Pose (also used for Princess Moondust). Sherbet came with a pale aqua lollipop brush, a ribbon, and a yellow hair clip shaped like an ice cream sundae.
Cocoberry is a pale blue adult unicorn pony with light pink hair and mint green eyes. Her symbol is a three-dimensional yellow ice cream cone with two scoops of pink ice cream and sprinkles. There are four splashes of ice cream around it. She is lightly scented. Her pose is a slightly-altered variation of the Powder Pose. Cocoberry came with a lavender candy comb, a ribbon, and a mint green hairclip shaped like a lollipop.
Crunchberry is a pink adult earth pony with neon yellow hair and blue eyes. Her symbol is a three-dimensional cup of white ice cream with a mint green cherry on top; the cup is mint green and white and has a spoon in it, and there are three splashes of white ice cream around it. Her pose is a slightly-altered variation of the Tootsie Pose (also used for Princess Sunbeam). Crunchberry came with an aqua lollipop brush, a ribbon, and a pink hair clip shaped like an ice cream cone. She is lightly scented.
Swirly Whirly is a yellow adult earth pony with yellow hair and pink eyes. Her symbol is a three-dimensional pink ice cream cone with two scoops of green ice cream, dripping pink topping, pink splashes on either side, and a mint green cherry on top. She is lightly scented. Her pose is a slightly-altered variation of the Collector Pose. Swirly Whirly came with a pink candy comb, a ribbon, and a pink hair clip shaped like a lollipop.
