The Fancy Mermaid Ponies, printed in Year 10 (1991-1992), were the first made-for-water ponies available in the US since Year 6, when the last set of Sea Ponies was released. The Fancy Mermaid ponies resemble Teeny Tiny Ponies more than any other kind of My Little Pony: they have the same short legs, tiny noses, large eyes, and extra eyelashes. They were all made in the same pose (the Fancy Mermaid Pose), and their symbols were printed inside an ornamental heart on their chests. Each pony came with a fish comb.
